Excerpts from " Agape Road"

Posted: 2011-12-07 22:11:26 by: Bob Mumford

Excerpts from Agape Road (Journey to Intimacy with the Father) by Bob Mumford

Additional comments by David Nelson       (12-7-11)

(Please note, this book was not “easy reading” for me. For me it was kind of complicated and lengthy but I did get some good insights from it and wanted to pass them on to you).

Pgs. 19, 20 God wants three things from us (according to Bob Mumford)

1-He wants to see our face (not a mask). Will we show our real face to Him with no mask on? Really, do we want to show our real personality to anyone? God wants the real us face to face with Himself.

2-He desires to spend time with us communing together. We must learn what this means and how to do it. God will show us.

3-God desires our unshared love. We are to love Him with all our heart and all our strength and all our desire. He is jealous to have our love. We are not to love the world or other things that keep us away from Him.

Pg. 49 Here are some descriptions of Agape love that God wants to instill in us.

Love for a neighbor is love for those who are strange, irritating and different than us. Love values fellowship very highly because it seeks fellowship only (not other rewards). Love expects nothing, because it has already (we have received from God completely), we have reached the goal with God. Love does not intend to do but has already done without thought. Love does not have to ask because it already knows (what to do). Love does not have to fight because it is already the victor. Eros love (not the God kind) keeps on wanting more things and rewards, but Agape love keeps on giving (and never fails or stops). (This is a paraphrase of a writing by Karl Barth)

Pgs. 53, 54 In love between a husband and wife, does the husband just want sex to be happy? Does the wife just want financial security to be happy? Agape love loves the other unconditionally each seeking first the other’s highest interest. Do I marry you because I love you or for what you will do for me or get from me? This difference in love can be very subtle at times, and God also will test us to see what kind of love we have for Him. Do you love God for what He does for you or do you love who He is, for who He is in Himself? Do you love Him alone?

Pg. 59 Selfish “love” is to do something for a reward or to be reciprocated. Unselfish (Agape) love is doing something to benefit someone else, even if we do not get rewarded, recognized, or paid back. Only God is pleased and that is all that matters to us.

Pgs. 87, 88 Here is one way God looks at you as an individual.

God gave you value when you were still a sinner and you didn’t know Him. If you are thinking what a failure your life is, consider that God loved you and wanted you while you were still in a “sorry state.” The goals God has for you are much more awesome and beautiful than you know. When you think low of yourself it is evident that you do not grasp the kind of relationship God the Father wants to have with you. People have failed you, you have failed yourself, the Church may have failed you but God as a Father has not done so (and will not). Tell God how disappointed you are in yourself. And ask Him to help you give your life over to Him more than you have.

Pgs. 197-199 The protecting, nourishing, and watering of the Eternal Seed.

The Kingdom of God is like seeds put into soil (in a field). (Mark 4:26-29) How they sprout and grow we don’t know. We put seeds in the soil and crops come forth from the soil. An Eternal Seed has been put in us by God, we who have been born again, and it produces what God intends, but we don’t know how it all comes to be, we don’t know all the details. Our responsibility is to protect the Seed in us, to get water, to nourish and care for the “plant” that is coming up. In some the Eternal Seed will bring forth 30, 60, or 100 fold (fruit or more seed).

Paul says one plants, another waters but God causes the growth. (I Cor. 3:6-9) Those who plant and those who water are nothing (they will get their reward) but it is God who gives the increase (and brings forth His desired results). So the Seed must mature in us, and God sends us various trials and experiences to conform us to the image of His Son. “All things” work together for good (all things that happen to us) for those who love God and who are called to His purposes. (Rom. 8:28)

Pg. 208 If we really know that His Agape love toward us will never fail, then the pressures of time factors lose some of their demand.

To hurry God is to find fault with God. We must know that the fully grown chicken is still in the egg, and the fully mature flower or fruit is still in the seed. So to, we must have faith in God’s seed in us and in others, no matter how long we may be delayed in our struggles. The gifts in us and all that God wants us to be will come forth if His seed is in us, if we value and shelter it, if we get some water and some nourishment, it will grow into what God wants. How, we don’t fully understand.

Pg. 226 The Christian life will always be somewhat of a mystery. We won’t always know why certain events happen. What we do know is that God is able to use all things for His purposes to mold our lives. We can say, “Lord, I don’t know what you are doing, but I know who you are.”

Pg. 237 And so, “I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which I also was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 3:12b) That (what God has planned for you to be) will be different for each person.

Pgs. 192, 193 Let me end with this poem authored by George MacDonald. Please take a little time to think about what each line means.

O Christ, who didst appear in Judah land,

Thence by the cross go back to God’s right hand,

Plain history, and things our sense beyond,

In thee together come and correspond:

How rulest thou from the undiscovered bourn

The world-wise world that laughs thee still to scorn?

Please, Lord, let thy disciple understand.

‘Tis heart on heart thou rulest. Thou art the same

At God’s right hand as here exposed to shame,

And therefore workest now as thou didst then—

Feeding the faint divine in humble men.

Through all thy realms from thee goes out heart-power,

Working the holy, satisfying hour,

When all shall love, and all be loved again.

From thine, as then, the healing virtue goes

Into our hearts—that is the Father’s plan

From heart to heart it sinks, it steals, it flows,

From these that know thee still infecting those.

Here is my heart—from thine, Lord, fill it up,

That I may offer it as the holy cup

Of thy communion to my every man.

The Lord Has Shown You Great Things

So That You Will Help Others In The Future   by David Nelson     11-23-11

Isn’t it good that the Lord has shown you precious things in these past years? The Lord has given you insights about what He wants to do in His Church, His Body, His Bride. It is not just chance that you are reading this article. I want to encourage you with some important Scripture verses so that you will realize that you are being prepared to help God’s people in the future!

In Daniel 11:30 and 31 it speaks of daily sacrifices ceasing, of the “sanctuary” being defiled, and of the abomination of desolation being placed there. Jesus says in Matt. 24:15 concerning the great tribulation (Matt. 24:21), “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whosoever reads, let him understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.” (Etc.) Back in Daniel 11:32-35 it says that there will be a people who know their God, who will do great things for His name, and that there will be those among the people who understand and they will instruct many. The passage goes on to explain more but I want you to see something here. Whether you or I will be on the earth at this time is not the key thing. There will be real Christians on the earth during a 3 ½ year period. (1/2 of the 7 year tribulation?) Rev. 12:13-17 proves this. For a time, times, and a half a time (Rev. 12:14) there will be children or offspring of the woman who have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Rev. 12:17) These are real Christians during ½ of the 7 year tribulation for they have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Then the Lord showed me that Daniel chapter 12 Rev. Chapters 10 and 11 have some very interesting parallels. In Daniel 12, the last chapter of his book, the Lord is revealing some very important things, hundreds of years before Christ came. It says in Dan. 12:1 that there shall come a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to that time. Jesus says in Matt. 24:21, “For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.” Are Jesus and Daniel talking about the same time of trouble or tribulation? It sounds like they are.

In Dan. 12:3 it says those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever. These “wise” described here may be those after Jesus comes back to earth, rules the earth for a thousand years in the millennium, these may be the ones who will shine for God’s glory in the new heavens and the new earth. But could they not also be those who helped people to understand before Jesus returns?

But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end…. (Dan. 12:4) Then it says in Dan. 12:7, Then the man clothed in fine linen held up his right hand to heaven and swore by Him who lives forever, that it shall be for a time, times, and half a time (3 ½ years), and when the power of the holy people has been completely shattered, all these things shall be finished. Daniel then says, I heard these things, but I did not understand, but God said to Daniel, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.” (Dan. 12:9) Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall (keep doing) do wickedly, and none of the wicked shall understand (even though they are told), but the wise shall understand. From the time that the abomination of desolation is set up there will be 3 ½ years. (Dan. 12:11 and 12) Again, you and I may not be here during the 3 ½ years but some Christians will. (Rev. 12:13-17)

Now, in Rev. Chapters 10 and 11 we see an important parallel. Two witnesses will prophecy for 3 ½ years. (Rev. 3, 6) And they will have power to do miracles, as often as they desire. Remember in Dan. 11:32 and 33 that there will be a people who know there God and that there will be those who understand who will instruct many? God is showing you and I precious things so that we will be able to help others understand. You are coming to understand what God wants and you can help others to see what God wants. Great calamities will come suddenly upon this earth and these will shock and surprise people like the coming of a thief in the night. But we are children of light and we will not be surprised, for God is preparing us! (I Thess. 5:1-5) The freedom of these two witnesses (Rev. 11) who freely prophecy for 3 ½ years, speaking everything God wants to say with power, and those who know their God will do great things too.

When does the rapture come? We are to be ready today, we are to be ready every day, looking up and longing for the day of His return. But if we should go through any part of the tribulation God will always be with us and keep us from His wrath. Come Lord Jesus! I do not want to teach that we will see nothing of the tribulation, for some Christians will, if you or I are spared by rapture now or later, I leave that to God’s plans.

So let me conclude with the statement I started with, the Lord has shown you and I great things so that we will be able to help others in the future. For whatever number of days we are given on this earth let us keep hearing “what saith the Lord!’ Let us learn, for the things He is revealing now are precious and will make many wise, those who have ears to hear will be instructed. Things will be opened up in these last days that have been sealed up. We will receive fresh instructions from the Lord and we must pass on what He shows, to others. In Rev. 10:4 John heard 7 thunders utter their voice and he was about to write down what they said, but he was told, “Seal up the things the 7 thunders said, and do not write them.” But now it is 2,000 years later and the Lord in the last days will prophecy through us. “And I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, young and old, sons and daughters, servants and free, and they will prophecy.” (Acts 2:17 and 18)

Please write and let me know what you have heard from the Lord. If you have questions, comments, let’s talk. The Lord will give us all wisdom and will show us what we need to know to become the pure Bride He is preparing for His Son.

Entering Autumn

Julie Pisacane

As the wind dances with leaves on the ground
Splashes of color float all around.

Small fires are made in the fireplace-
Warming the rosy cheeks of each face.

Children crunch leaves under their feet
Apple pies scent the air so sweet.

Birds fluff up their feathers in the cold
Resting in trees that have turned bright gold.

Brisk winds bring about a blessed season
That God made with perfect reason.

Autumn is beautiful by God's design,
Created with love and Hand's divine.

Inspired by Our Lord

The Life Of God That Sustains Me And My Dreams

Posted: 2011-10-01 12:30:58 by: David Nelson

The Life Of God That Sustains Me And My Dreams     by David Nelson    9-30-11

Every one of us lives 24 hours a day and we do not always have someone to encourage us every day. If we are born again Christians the Lord has said to us that He will never leave us or forsake us, He will be with us, even through dark valleys when we don’t feel He is there. I felt that I should write something about what sustains me all the hours and days when no worldly comfort or comfort from others has helped. The following are some Biblical principles and life experiences that have helped me in the last 40 years.

It is always the Lord who loves us, holds us up, helps us to keep standing, gives us grace to face and live with (for a while) hard things and very hard things.  Could quote lots of verses here but I want more to give my life experience (you probably know the verses, or I could send them to you if you’d like). Everything good we have done (including getting saved), every good thing we are, and every good thing we achieve in the future (including making it to heaven) is by His grace, by His gifts, and His strength. Yes, it seems we have some responsibility in all this but it is the Spirit at work in us that gives us the desire to do something good and it is the Spirit who gives us the doing power to do it. Every step we take, whether our mind understands it or not, is ordered by the Lord. When we sin or step in the wrong direction He will show us by correcting us (whether that be by feeling guilty or whatever way He sees fit). He guides us, helps us to pray, even these words can keep us out of trouble, “lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.”

Does this all sound a little too easy and that life is really much harder than what I’ve said? Saints of the past and even some today have gone through dark days, weeks, or even years and have felt great spiritual and mental pain. And sometimes these times of anguish have lasted much longer than they thought they could bear. But did not the apostle Paul feel despair, which I believe is as close as you can get to, “There is no escape!”) Sometimes the vision God has given us seems as though it will never come to fruit, just like Joseph, who may have felt that his dreams would never come true.

One of the strong messages in the book of Daniel that we must learn is that at any moment the Lord can demote someone (take them down) and promote someone (even of low estate) to where He wants them to be. We must know that God rules in all the affairs of heaven and in all the affairs of earth to do as He wills, when He wills. And you and your dream are on His schedule to bring forth in you what He wants, when He wants. Just hang in there and be faithful to keep holding on to His hand!

All the troubles, trials, waiting, melting, burning up, is a cleansing and molding process specifically designed for what God wants to make you. I have always felt that as we look at the beautiful things God has designed and made all around us that He is a master artist. He can paint, sculpture and make fantastic and beautiful things. So, if He has started a work on you as though you are a work of art, does He not know how to make the perfect you! You and I are works of art. What He has begun He will finish. If we keep the faith He will get us to heaven too. If we endure until the end we will be saved. You are saved now by His grace too.

As with all of us, my prayer times have kept me linked with God. And I want to be sincerely thankful for the little or big things He does for me each day (or even if He does things just once in awhile). If I don’t pray for a few days, He is faithful and I trust that He loves me. If I don’t hear from Him or receive anything (I can see) from Him for a few days (or even longer), He is the same, He has not changed, He has not left me (though it seems that He has, or that He is hiding His face from me).

The Lord is breathing spiritual life on me and into me day and night whether I know it fully or not. That’s why I am still “alive and kicking” in my relationship with Him and in continuing to do the work He has put me on earth to do. I know that you are the same. Sometimes you may feel like you are just barely hanging in there but I hope the above words will be an encouragement to you. I am your friend and brother in the faith and I look forward to the day when we can meet face to face and share with each other the good things the Lord has put in our hearts. I bless you in Jesus’ name!

"We Will Embrace Your Move" (lyrics by Darrell Evans)

Posted: 2011-09-30 20:51:26 by: David Nelson

“We Will Embrace Your Move” (lyrics from this song by Darrell Evans have a prophetic message for us today)

Comments by David Nelson 9-13-11

I did not write this song but it contains an important prophetic message for our day. Please hear these words from the Lord (the lyrics are in quotation marks).

Of course, individual revival is very necessary to the Lord. The Lord loves each one of us, and as we seek Him (He is now drawing us to Himself) He will show us wonderful things and change our lives. He will put fire in our hearts and in our mouths to share with others. He may also lead us into many hard experiences (as some of you have found) but it is all to give us a greater depth of character and beauty of spirit to be more like Himself. But His other great goal is corporate revival. He wants to bring people together to share the fire He has given to each of us. That is why He has shown us such good things and why He has changed us so that we can share with each other. Each of us has missing pieces of the puzzle and we are meant to give these to each other. God’s greater work is the Church, His Bride, and getting us to connect with each other!

So here are some of the words of the song “We Will Embrace Your Move” and the prophetic message the song contains. It’s a song about corporate revival!

“We recognize that you’re moving among (or in) the earth Lord, and we say, we’re with you, and we’re going to embrace what you’re doing. Don’t leave us behind. We’re with you Lord, we’re with you.”

I believe your reading of this was led by the Lord because you know that the Lord has been speaking to you and others and is moving in the earth again. His prophetic messages are going forth. And I say to the Lord, I will hear, I will heed, I will go with you Lord, I will embrace what you are saying. Don’t leave us where we are, we want to move with you, where you are going. We’re with you Lord!

“Behold our God is gracious, He’s moving among the nations. Preparing the Bride of Jesus, and proving He reigns. His Spirit is tearing down walls, built on the pride of men. To those who’ve rejected Him, He’s reaching His hand out again.”

God’s great work, of course, is in individuals all over the earth, but He is wanting to have a connected, working together, pure Bride. We are not meant to make it alone, we need each other, we need to share what he is giving to us with each other. He is building His Church with living stones being fit together. He will bring us together to show us and the world how great He is. All will say, look what the Lord has done! Walls must come down that stand between us, the doctrines, teachings and prideful works of man must fall and be swept out of the way for the Lord to do what He wants. Even for years we may have walked in ignorance but God is graciously saying, OK, enough is enough, what has been is not acceptable, do you not see that my glory has departed from the works of man? But now I am showing you what I require and I will take you by the hand and lead you into all my plans for the Church.

And so, we will embrace your move Oh Lord, we will embrace your love and become a people of your love.

“Our God is preparing a feast, the Spirit and Bride say come. Calling out to the least and filling our lamp stands with oil. And He is restoring His people with rains of sweet renewal. And the music of heaven will soon overtake the earth.”

The feast is the corporate gatherings where God will have His way 100%, and He will bring out of His treasuries much more than we have seen before. It will not be one person on a hilltop hearing from the Lord but 2 or 3 or more will come together and share. It will not be one stick burning but a bonfire of people sharing rich, heavenly things. Many are hearing God’s call but are making excuses and not coming, not answering the call, not embracing His move. But there will be a remnant of “the least” who will say yes and who will get filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit. There must be a restoring of all things that God wants that He has spoken through all of His prophetic voices of old and all true prophetic words today too. And the wonderful things that happen at the meetings that God will bring together, sweet revelations, beautiful new songs, the presence and fire of God experienced like never before will begin here and there and soon will fill the earth. We will taste heaven at the meetings he has for us now, and one day when God has His ways over the whole earth it will be like heaven on earth when the Lord is here with us.

I embrace His move, what do you want us to do Lord, we are yours. And I believe that people reading this will embrace His move too. “Don’t leave us behind. We’re with you Lord, we’re with you.”

A Message Burning in My Heart From The Lord

Posted: 2011-09-30 11:48:40 by: David Nelson

A Message Burning In My Heart From The Lord    by David Nelson    9-28-11

Jesus once said to Martha, Mary has chosen the one thing (to hear me) but you have been distracted by many things. We should also sit at Jesus’ feet and listen to Him. (Lk. 10:38-42) In this writing I would like to give a message that is burning in my heart. It has to do with the one thing mentioned above, but it also has to do with a prophetic message from the Lord concerning His Church for our time.

Like Mary, if we will clear away other things, go to prayer, look up and turn our ears to Him, and hear what He is saying to us, we will get fire in our hearts. But we are not to remain alone, the Lord wants us to find another person to share with and receive from so that we become a functioning Body, helping and changing one another. Church begins with two, one part of the Body ministering to another part of the Body, and growing from there. Jesus said, whenever 2 or 3 gather in my name there I am in the midst. Of course, He is with one person too but there must be at least two to have a Body or Church connection.

So, if you want to hear His voice and do His will, that is excellent. Is there anyone around you who sincerely wants that too? You may feel that you are alone and maybe God has not shown you anyone who wants to follow His will like you do. But if God does show you one, two, or more people who are willing to seek Him with you to find His will together, then get together in His name, and God’s great goal of Church begins!

Please understand, it can’t be just anyone that you connect with, it has to be someone who wants to hear the Lord, who is willing to do whatever He says, who wants to seek the Lord with you to discover real church. By “real church” I mean this: we must ask these things, where is the Lord, what will He say to us, we must be sure it is Him, we want only what He says, we are tired of what goes on at church meetings that is not the Lord!

Here are a couple of examples of hearing from the Lord clearly (two from the Scriptures and one from a real life church experience). In the book of Jeremiah (chapters 28,29 and 42), Jeremiah the prophet was asked by the people to inquire of the Lord, what saith the Lord, what does the Lord want us to do? Other (false) prophets were saying, we must resist the kingdom of Babylon, we will break their yoke soon and go hide in Egypt. As  Jeremiah waited on a word from the Lord, one day went by, and he heard nothing from the Lord. The 2nd day? Nothing. The 3rd and 4th and 5th days? Nothing. How many days must he wait? I guess he could wait a whole year for the Lord to speak. Jeremiah was the type that if God didn’t speak then he would say nothing. We should be that way too. The Word says after 10 days the word of the Lord came to him. And God said the opposite of what everyone else was saying. God said build houses in Babylon and surrender to them for 70 years. The people really did not like this word, it seemed so strange and unlike things God had said before. But if we are to hear God then we must really hear God and know it is Him. My sheep will know my voice and they will follow me.

Another Biblical example of hearing only the Lord is when Jesus told His disciples in the book of Acts to wait in Jerusalem for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Then Jesus ascended back to heaven. What did He mean, they might have asked? What does He want us to do? We are to wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes on us. So, how long must we wait? How will we know when the Holy Spirit comes? Will we have to wait 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 1 year? They must have thought, we will wait till the Holy Spirit comes, and we will know when the Lord shows us, “This is it,” we will know His voice and we will know when He has done it. So how long did they have to wait? Did they have to wait one year for Him to answer and give His gift? Would we wait that long? No, the Scripture says the Holy Spirit came in 10 days.

My last example comes from a small group in Argentina. A certain missionary was tired of God not speaking and why do we keep doing the stuff we are doing? He asked, where is the Lord in all our efforts and activities? So he said, I’m going to get together with a few people who are as tired of not hearing from God as I am, we will stop with all our activities and just ask, has the Lord said anything to anyone today? So this missionary gathered with a small group of people with no sermons, no songs, no nothing, just one question, did the Lord say anything to anyone tonight? That’s what he would ask his people each evening they gathered, after they sought the Lord, did the Lord reveal anything to anyone tonight? One night, a shy lady said, I think the Lord said to me to hit the table in this room with my hand, but I’m not sure it was really the Lord. God said nothing to anyone else. So from time to time at these gatherings, this lady would say at the end of the evening, I’m not sure, but I think the Lord wants me to hit the table with my hand. She was not really ready to obey this until she was sure it was the Lord. Some time went by, and one night the group decided to march around the table and all of them hit the table with their hands (but the one lady did not do it). Nothing happened. At some point the lady said, I really think I am supposed to hit the table, the Lord keeps impressing me, and I will do it. When she hit the table, a great revival began that night in Argentina that started in the 1940’s. Future gatherings included very anointed prayer times and such a great flowing of tears that the ground for revival was plowed and broken up, and the flood gates of God were opened. That revival may still be going today, and some people who visited it came back to the U.S. with an anointing on their lives from that revival. Some say that the Brownsville revival in Pensacola, Florida, was sparked by this Argentina revival.

So, what will we do? My burning message, is get close to Him, hear Him, do what He says, and then find one, two, or more people who will seek the Lord together and be the church He is looking for—a Church who will hear only Him and wait for whatever He says. I’ve experienced the beginnings of revival in Louisiana, Georgia, Iowa, and Missouri since 1999 where I found people who would say yes. If you are doing that where you are, I rejoice! Let me know how it is going for you. I’d love to come and visit your move of God and learn. If you need a friend to seek the Lord with, I will do whatever I can for you. The Lord wants you and He wants His Church to become all that He wants. He will build it, what is He showing you to do? Be courageous; don’t be afraid, God will be victorious in each of our lives.

The very greatest news in all the world is that the Lord loves us, will forgive us freely and completely (only through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection from the dead), and He will always be faithful to forgive us and help us through all the things we go through. How precious it is to have such a GREAT salvation and to proclaim it!  If you haven’t made a decision to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, please click into our “Following Jesus” tab at the TOP of our Home page and learn more!

Let's Gather and Seek God for Revival

Let’s Gather and Seek God for Revival    8-23-11    by David Nelson

Let’s get together once-a-month to seek revival!  Many of us are busy with our jobs, families, or hobbies. Of course, jobs and families are important but the Lord also said  that the cares of life can get out of balance and detour us from doing God’s will and could choke out our fruit.  In one place it says that the desire for other things could hold us back. (Mark 4:19)  Everybody has 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; will you give some of that time to seek revival? The Lord's eyes are seeking to and fro through the earth for people who will make time to seek Him for revival.  He's ready to bless His people with a supernatural revival, to see and hear things from the Lord that will amaze us. Are we too busy or do we not believe He is ready and is waiting for us to come to Him?

The Lord spoke to me recently. He said we may talk with each other about what revival is, whether He will send it, and whether it is time to receive from Him a great move of God like we have seen in the past in the Church (like the Welch revival, like the 1800's Kentucky meetings, like Charles Finney's revivals in the East, like Azusa Street, etc.) But the Lord said to me you have taken it up with each other, now will you seek my face and take it up with Me?

And so I ask, Iowa, will you hear, from California to New York, from Florida to Canada (or any country), who will meet once a month to seek the Lord for revival? I am willing to do it and I am willing to come to where you are to encourage you and seek with you. Who will hear and step forward and say yes to this invitation from the Lord?  Remember it says in the Word that the Lord looked everywhere for someone to stand in the gap but He found none. As a prophetic voice I say the time is now, who will say yes? You may be meeting already and you may be on the road to revival and making good progress with the Lord but not very connected with others. But the Lord wants more than this.  It is God’s plan in these last days to have gifted people, sent people, connect with each other more and not think that ministries will remain separate.  It is the Lord's desire to bring people together even across the miles in these days and bring down the barriers that separate us. Then the world will see our love for each other and His great revivals will begin!

Fellowship With God and With Each Other

Fellowship With God and With Each Other      by David Nelson   7-27-11

(Also included, quotes from the book “The Community Life of God” by Milt Rodriquez)

Koinonia (fellowship) is the Greek word meaning partnership, intercourse (meaning conversation), communion with another. It comes from the Greek words koinonos, a sharer, an associate, a companion, a partner, and koinos, something we have in common that we share with others.  In I John 1:3, 7 it says that we have fellowship with God (we have communion with Him (He speaks to us and we speak to Him), friendship, communication, relationship, we share our hearts with each other, we are companions). It also says in I John 1:3, 7 that if we have fellowship with God (a relationship) then we will have fellowship with each other. If we don’t know how to have a relationship with God (know how to commune and fellowship with God) then we will not know how to have koinonia with each other.

I read a book recently entitled The Community Life of God by Milt Rodriquez that spoke to me of fellowship within the Godhead (between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). In Jesus’ prayer (John 17) He said that He was one with the Father and that they have love for each other. (Jn. 17:21-26) It is not easy for me to picture seeing the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in heaven all in one place. But I am not troubling myself with how that will be, I just know when I pray I am fellowshipping with a wonderful God who loves me. At the baptism of Jesus at the Jordan river there were 3, the Son being baptized, the Father speaking from heaven (this is my son, in whom I am well pleased), and the Holy Spirit descending as a dove upon Jesus. The 3 are always cooperating and working together. Jesus in His ministry on the earth followed everything the Father told Him to do (without the Father Jesus would do nothing). (Jn. 5:19) The Father was guiding the Son always. Then the Spirit was going to be sent upon the disciples after Jesus was going to return to heaven. And the Spirit would take what Jesus gave Him and would do nothing on His own authority, and then give Jesus’ things to the disciples. (Jn. 16:13, 14) So the 3 in the Trinity all work together, fellowship together, and love each other.

This is how the members of the church or members of His Body ought to be toward one another. So much of the time in our Western society individualism and independence are taught. (page 73, The Community Life of God by Milt Rodriquez)  But in the Scriptures we see that we are to be connected to others in the Body of Christ. We are not to be alone or islands unto ourselves. We are to share our gifts with others and receive the encouragement of their gifts. This is not optional but necessary for us so that we each will become what we were meant to be and for us all to grow up and become the Body God has in mind for us. The following is a quote from Milt Rodriquez’ book pages 62-64. “Our personhood and identity can only be defined by relating to others. We will never truly “find ourselves” until we are living in the community life of God. Then, and only then, will our true colors come out. What I mean by “true colors” are those aspects of Christ that have been placed into us to make each of us special. Each individual person in this corporate vessel (the Church or the Body) will express or display a unique aspect of the living God. “ The Body knit together will show forth the fullness of Christ (not each of us separately). We are to come into the unity of the faith (more and more), into the perfect man, into the measure of the fullness of Christ. We are to be fitly joined together, unto the effective working of every part (when each part is working properly), this will make the Body increase and be built up in love. (Eph. 1:22, 23 and Eph. 4:12-16)

God wants a spiritual house (or temple)  that He can dwell in. (page 102, Rodriquez’ book) “This temple is made up of living stones (you and me) which are now being built together.” (page 102) (Eph. 2:19-22 and I Pet. 2:5) “He already dwells in us individually but He wants to build the stones together and dwell (in the midst of) that temple.” (page 102)

Here is another quote from Rodriquez’ book (page 131) that I believe is very important and very true. “One of the main reasons we don’t see community life on earth today is because we don’t receive those sent by God. God has called some, prepared them and sent them out to raise up first century style organic churches throughout the earth. We desperately need these “sent ones” to lay a foundation and show us how to live community life. They have experienced this life and are called and gifted by God to help groups of believers to live it as well. Churches were raised up by such men in the first century and we still need them to do the same today. These saints have received a revelation and vision of Jesus Christ and His Church that just won’t quit.”

Another idea that Milt Rodriquez shares in his book is
